General Appearance: A symmetrical, powerful, active dog, sound, and well put together, not clumsy or long in the leg, displaying a kindly expression and possessing a personality that is eager, alert, and self confident.
Size, Proportion, and Substance: Height-males, 23 to 24 inches at the withers; females 21 1/2 to 22 1/2 inches. Length is slightly greater than the height. Weight-males, 65 to 75 lbs; females, 55 to 65 lbs. Background: Goldens love everybody, so don't expect a watchdog, but an outgoing family companion. Eager to please, Golden's are highly trainable, but as puppies, may need activities to focus on to stay out of the "doghouse." As Retrieving is what Goldens do best, the pups are orally fixated and will chew if left unattended. Goldens love water sports, hiking, playing with children, anything that allows them to spend time with their families. Their long coat needs twice a week brushing and does shed considerably. |
