Size, Proportion, and Substance: The Yorkshire Terrier stands less than 9 inches tall at the withers and should weigh no more than 8 pounds.

Background: Yorkshires are a bold little dog whose personality is much larger than his stature. They are playful and energetic companions but also enjoy quiet time cuddling with their owner. Their small size makes them an ideal travel companion. They are not the ideal children's pet due to their fragile build so great caution must be taken in their interactions with small children.
